06.30.14 The Climb

An abandoned steel mill in Birmingham led me up seven stories to a most breathtaking view. The plot was home to four or so different buildings that were all too expensive to demolish. Having been abandoned since 1982, the grated stairs were shaky all the way up.

06.27.14 Bum City

06.26.14 Chelsea Hotel

Despite the title, this location is far from New York City. In the deep south, a road trip lead me to an [long-since] abandoned hotel in Birmingham. It is both the oldest and tallest building I've visited. 21 stories up and 80 years back in time, it was an experience like none other. The whole time, I couldn't get smooth voice of Leonard Cohen singing 'Chelsea Hotel no. 2' out of my head.

This is not the Chelsea Hotel. But, someday when New York City has been deserted I will make it my home.

I can't keep track of each fallen robin."
