10.19.14 Solitary
I rode backwards on a train all the way to New York City. I was alone but not lonely.
Looking back on these photos, I'm realizing almost all relate in some manner to transportation & infrastructure. I guess you could say I'm slightly obsessed. I like to move. My brain grows stale when my situation becomes comfortable, when my surroundings become static. Never have I felt more alive than my first solitary trip to New York City 4 years ago. I saved up all my money, bought an Amtrak ticket, & rode the train 18 hours from Atlanta. I stayed in the tiniest of tiny hotel rooms & endlessly explored the uncharted territory. I was rather upset in my follow-up trips not to feel that high again. I love it there more than anywhere else, but it was never the same as that first trip. I'm sadly realizing now that it wasn't the city itself that was so enchanting, but rather, the newness of it all.
