I went to my first "instameet" the other day, which, admittedly, I first found kind of strange. Upon walking in, I was instructed to write my IG tag on a "Hello, My Name Is" sticker. Then, as I walked around, people introduced themselves as their pseudonyms. I'm already pretty awkward at social events, so before I did anything else I downed two vodka tonics.
We went to the top of the Westin, 73 floors above Atlanta, to the Sundial. The views were breathtaking right off the bat; I wanted to slap myself for having never been up there before. I walked in circles around the 72nd floor, snapping photos, & trying to find my favorite viewshed for the night's sunset. I decided upon framing my pre & post sunset photos on the "main vein" of ATL (Interstate 85), and two of the tallest buildings in the city: the SunTrust & Bank of America plazas. There, I hit it off with another solo-venturer. We agreed that everyone else was crazy for not choosing this shot. We were mystified.
Again, I decided to experiment with Sensia 400 & C41 processing, which resulted in golden hues & green clouds. Overall, I was satisfied. And, despite initially being weirded out by the internet's blatant infusion into reality, I ended up having a great time, snapped some good photos, & realized just how many badass photographers there are here in Atlanta.
